Pat Mangane and Mary Brien married in Drimoleague Catholic Parish on 19 February 1833.  The Witnesses were Maurice Brien and Derby Mangane.  We note from the marriage entry that the surname was recorded as Mangane for Pat and as Brien for Mary, it seems that Pat was one of the Brien clan with the branch name or agnomen Mangan.  Mary would not seem to be a Brien Mangane.

We do see examples in families especially in the Drimoleague Catholic Parish where the surname used may be either Brien or Mangane.
