Peter Hayes

Peter Hayes was a son of Peter Hayes and Catherine Driscoll of Curraghlicky, Drinagh, Co. Cork.


Peter's brother, Timothy, wrote many letters which were published in the Skibbereen based newspaper, The Southern Star and and extract from a letter in the newspaper dated 19 September 1925 we read: "Peter was a teacher in Drinagh School, and a noted athlete; he competed often times against Pat Warren and Jack Flynn in the five mile race".

 

Death:
Peter Hayes died at Curraghlicky on 8 October 1888.  From his death record he was a bachelor, aged 21 years, a teacher.  Present at his death and the Informant to the Syate Registrar was Peter Hayes, his father.
