Timothy Scully was a son of Daniel Scully and Mary Collins, farmers
Julia Berry was a daughter of Peter Berry, a farmer

Timothy Scully, a Policeman of Newport, Co. Tipperary and Julia Berry of Skibbereen married in the Catholic Church in Skibbereen on 12 January 1890.  The Witnesses were Michael Scully and Maria Scully.

Child

Mary A. Scully, born ay Ballydehob on 3 July 1891 as on the Civil Birth Register.  Her father's address is given as Newport, Co. Tipperary and he is a Constable in the R.I.C.  The Informant of the birth to the Registrar was Anne Berry, Ballydehob.

Mary died at Gortnacloghy, Skibbereen on 15 November 1901.  From her death record she was aged 10 years, Policeman's daughter.  Cause of death was diphtheria.  Present at her death and the Informant to the Registrar was Mary Scully, Market St., Skibbereen.


Death of Timothy:
Timothy Scully died at Glanmire, Co. Cork on 11 March 1920.  From his death record he was married, aged about 64 years, a Constable in The Royal Irish Constabulary. He had been wilfully shot by unknown person.
Timothy was buried in Skibbereen.

From the Cork Examiner newspaper dated Monday 15 March 1920 we read:
"The remains of Constable Scully were removed from St. Patrick's Church on Saturday afternoon after 3 o'clock, and taken to the Cork and Bandon terminus. Here they were entrained on the 4.15 p.m. for Skibbereen where the interment takes place.  The cortege passed through King St., Patrick St., Grand Parade and South Mall to the station, a military band preceding the bier, at which some of the deceased's comrades in the R.I.C. acted as pall bearers, and played funeral marches.  There was a large number of police present and a detachment of military in charge of three officers.  It was an impressive procession.  The chief mourners included Mrs Scully (widow), Mrs Harcourt, Skibbereen (sister), John Gleeson, Drum, Templemore (brother-in-aw), Maggie Gleeson, do. (sister-in-law), Charles, Walter and Robert Harcourt, Skibbereen, (nephews), Emly Harcourt (niece), Ml. Collins, Skibbereen (uncle), D.J. O'Sullivan, Ballincollig: Miss Collins, Baltimore (cousins), J. O'Connor, Midleton, J.McCarthy, Cork."
