Death:
Michael Joseph Boyle (39) was killed in a workplace accident in Druid Hill, Stoke Bishop, Bristol on 19 March 1968.  He died when a trench in which he was working in caved in and he was buried.
STATEMENT OF IDENTIFICATION:
"Raymond Patrick Daly states
I am a building contractor and I live at 5 Severn Way, Patchway, Bristol, and I identify the deceased as my brother-in-law, Michael Joseph BOYLE, aged 39 years, of 5 Mayville Avenue, Filton, Bristol, building contractor.
He was a very healthy and strong man.  His eyesight, hearing and mobility were all very good and I know of no disability he might have had.  All his working life he had spent in the building industry, and although a plasterer by trade, he had, for the last few years been in business as a building contractor.  He engaged in all aspects of the trade from the building of new properties to repairs.
It is within my knowledge that he was engaged in the erection of a new property at Druid Hill, Stoke Bishop, Bristol.  Some three weeks ago I was talking to him about business in general terms and he then told me that he was experiencing some difficulty in the making of the foundations at the site.  He never again mentioned this to me and I assumed that all was well at the site.
I now know that on the afternoon of 19th. March, 1968, the deceased with others was working in a trench which they had excavated at Druid Hill, Stoke Bishop when the sides collapsed and he with others was buried in earth.  He was buried for some hours and when he was extracated he was certified as being dead by a doctor who was at the scene"
