Stevens Florence O'Donovan was baptised on 5th April 1863 in the Parish of Skibbereen (Creagh & Sullon). His parents are listed in the baptismal record as Jer O'Donovan Rossa and Ellen Buckly. The Sponsors were Cornelius O'Callaghan and Mary McCarthy. Below here is a copy of a section of the relevant page of the Register and the name at the bottom of the page is Stevens Florence. (Note: Stevens was on the Register but this generally has the spelling of Stephen or Stephens)
He was the only son of Jeremiah O'Donovan and Ellen Buckley (Rossa's second wife). However in some documents their son is called Timothy Francis but a baptismal record for this name is not available. I am aware that some people changed their names on going to America. An example I have is Keohane changed to Crowley in the US !!. Stevens Florence did change his name to Timothy on going to America. He apparently was a stowaway on a US bound ship when he was about 14 years old.
As Timothy he married Elgien (Ella) Korthuis (Corthous) on 23 Nov 1889 in Buena Vista, Iowa, United States. Elgien was born in Bellingwolde, Holland on 26 May 1869. Ella was a daughter of Claud Corthous.
