James Mangane and Johanna Brennan (Brenane) married on 31 January 1861 in the Catholic Parish of Drimoleague, West Cork.  The Witnesses were Daniel Hegarty and Batt Glavin.  We note from the marriage entry that the surname of James was recorded as Mangane and he was one of the Brien clan with the branch name or agnomen Mangane.

Extract from Marriage entry in Church Register:

 

For the baptisms of the children the surname Brien was used and Brien was used in the State Birth Register for Bridget; it appears Mary was not registered.

Mary Brien, baptised 22 Feb 1867.  Sponsors: James Donohue, Kate Hegarty

Bridget Brien, baptised 21 Mar 1872.  Sponsors:  Jeremiah Driscoll, Ellen Driscoll.

 

Death:

James Brien died at Minanes, Drinagh on 24 October 1895.  From his death record he was married, aged 80 years, a labourer and present at his death and Informant to the Registrar was Johanna Brien of Minanes.
