John Brien and Kate Collins married in Drimoleague Parish on 13 February 1858.  The Witnesses were Bryan Hennessy and Owen McCarthy.

We note from some of the baptismal entries below that the surname was recorded as Mangane and as Brien for that same child in the State Birth Register.  These were one of the Brien clan with the branch name or agnomen Mangane.  We do see examples in families especially in the Drimoleague Catholic Parish where the surname used may be either Brien or Mangane and some children are baptised Mangane and others Brien.
