Jeremiah Mangane and Mary McCarthy married in Drimoleague, Co. Cork on 4 February 1845. The Witnesses were David Spillane and John Cremeen.
We note from the marriage entry that the surname of Jerh was recorded as Mangane and he was one of the Brien clan with the branch name or agnomen Mangane. The children were baptised with the surname Brien. We do see examples in families where some children are baptised Mangane and others Brien.
