Cornelius Buttimer died at Knockariblichane on 6 July 1888.  From his death record he was married, aged 46 years, a farmer.  Cause of death was gangrene.  Present at his death and the Informant to the Registrar was his brother, Michael Buttimer of Gurtroe.
