James O'Connolly, a medical doctor of Durrus and Elizabeth Rice, a lady of 15 Myrtle Hill Terrace, Cork city married on 8 January 1880 at the residence of the bride in Cork city. The witnesses were R. E. Rice and Grace Rice.

James O'Connolly died at Durrus on 25 October 1883. From his death record he was married, aged 40 years, a medical officer. Sudden death due to disease of the heart.
