Ellen Hayes was a daughter of Peter Hayes and Bridget Regan.

MIchael Donovan (26), a butcher of Rosscarbery and Ellen Hayes (24) of Maulmareen married on 1 February 1872 in the Catholic Church in Kilmacabea (Leap).  The witnesses were Timothy Hayes and Denis Donovan.  (Michael and Ellen were cousins.)

In Guy's County & City of Cork Directory for the years 1875-1876 we see that two Butchers are listed for Rosscarbery,: Michael Donovan and Michael Hubbert.

Death:
Ellen Donovan died and Michael married again.

Catherine Shanahan was a daughter of Jeremiah Shanahan and Johanna Mahony.

Michael Donovan, a widower, and Catherine Shanahan married on 27 August 1882 in the Catholic Church in Rosscarbery.

Deaths:
Michael Donovan died at Rosscarbery on 12 May 1900.  From his death record he was married, aged 57 years, a shopkeeper.  Present at his death and the Informant of it to the Civil Registrar was his son, Denis Donovan.
Kate Donovan died at Rosscarbery on 2 April 1926.  From her death record she was a widow, aged 80 years, a trader's wife.  Present at her death and the Informant of it to the Civil Registrar was Mary Donovan, Rosscarbery.
