Mrs Margaret Collins, 87, dies at Quincy
QUINCY - May 3, Mrs Margare Collins, widow of Patrick Collins, and one of the oldest residents of the city, died lasy night at her home, 31 Gay St., aged 87 years. Mrs Collins was born in Ross, County Cork, Ireland, and as a girl was a neighbour of Jeremiah O'Donovan, the great Fenian leader, who was known all over the world as O'Donovan Rossa, his last name being taken from that of the town where he was born.
Mrs Collins had been a resident of Quincy for many years and was a woman of unusually bright mentality up till the last. She was a wonderful worker with the knitting needles and in her life did thousands of pieces of work along this line. She is survived by four daughters of the twelve children born to her.
The children who are living are Mrs Margaret Collins, Mrs John Callahan and Mrs Annie O'Brien of this city and Mrs Cornelius Driscoll of Boston. Mrs Collins has five grandsons in service in France and one at Camp Devens. The funeral will take place Monday morning at St. John's Church.
