Mary Doherty was a daughter of Daniel Doherty and Hanora Duggan.

BURNS, Mary Elizabeth 86, of Mashpee, formerly of Boston, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late David E. Burns and daughter of the late Daniel and Nora Doherty. Mary graduated from Catholic Schools in Boston. She worked as a proof reader for the Boston Herald and the Cape Cod Times for many years until her retirement. She was a loving aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Mary is survived by her nephew and godson William McGonagle and wife Ellen of Boston, her caregiver and friend, Jimmy Sahl of Mashpee and Bryan and Natalie Donovan of Vermont. She is predeceased by her sister, Sister Eleanor McGonagle and four brothers; Edward McGonagle, Daniel McGonagle, William McGonagle and Terrence McGonagle. A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude's Chapel in Christ the King Church 3 Job's Fishing Rd. Mashpee on Monday March 28, 2016 at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mary to the Fiona DeBaggis College Fund, Rockland Trust, 5 Shellback Way Mashpee, MA 02649.
