As often happened the spelling varied at times as many people were not literate. The official townland spelling is Killacoosane but on the headstone we see Kelecosane. This is to the East of Glandore as seen on the map.
The inscription on the headstone reads:
SACRED
TO THE MEMORY OF
PATK DONOVAN
KELECOSANE. WHO
DEPARTED THIS LIFE
DEC 25TH 1853
AGED 27 YEARS. MAY
HIS SOUL REST IN
PEACE. AMEN
It is probable that this Patrick Donovan was the first of the clan to be buried here and hence the headstone. Other family members were subsequently buried here but no inscriptions are to be found.
It is probable that the above Patrick was a son of this Patrick Donovan.
We know that Daniel Donovan of Ardkitt, Ballineen was buried here in 1936. This Daniel's father was also Daniel Donovan of Carhoogarriff and was most likely a cousin of the above Patrick Donovan.
