John and Mary it would appear were married before the records were being maintained in the parish of Kilmacabea in the early 1830's. A few marriages records do exist prior to this date.
It is worth noting that both their surnames have a variety of spelling versions and indeed to this day the Wholley, Wholey, Whooly, Whooley, Whorly, Houley, Houly, Hooly, Howley and Hooley are among the ones to be found.
Burke has fewer variations but example include Bourke, Burke, Burk and Buck.
