Rev. James Edmund Driscoll born Mar. 20, 1929 - died Oct. 29, 2011.
Resident of Danville, California, USA. The Reverend James Edmund Driscoll, 82 years old, was born in San Francisco to the late Stephen J. Driscoll and Mary E. Cottrell Driscoll and stepson of Margaret Crowley Driscoll all of County Cork Ireland.
He attended St. Anne's in San Francisco, Mt. Carmel Academy in Sausalito, St. John's in San Francisco and Mission Dolores in San Francisco. He then entered St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's Seminaries. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in San Francisco in 1955. Fr. Driscoll served in numerous parishes in the Bay Area - St. Leonard's in Fremont, St. Basil's in Vallejo, St. Leo's in Oakland, St. Lawrence O'Tooles in Oakland and St. Isidore's in Danville. Between parish assignments he was appointed the Director of the Propagation of the Faith for the Oakland Diocese. Fr. Driscoll was well known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and greatly appreciated sermons. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching and playing baseball, softball and basketball for many years. He had three brothers, Steve (Edie) of Concord, Bill (Janet) of Concord and the late Bob (Sue) of Stockton.
Funeral Mass was at 11:00 am at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA. Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma.
