The Tithe Applotment Books for Carrigbaun were recorded in 1829. In the Book we see Tim^y Burke & Dempsey as tenants of 46 acres.

(Note by Frank: In the late 1970's I gathered some genealogy and it included that Timothy Burke's wife was a daughter of Jack Collins.  All those notes were 'parked' for years until later when I restarted research which clearly showed that the above Timothy Burke married Mary Hayes.  In 2020 'the penny dropped' in that I likely failed to recognise that the father of Timothy who married Mary Hayes was also Timothy Burke.  So very likely the senior man (Tim^y) was married to a daughter of a Jack Collins)

Timothy Burke and Mary Hayes were probably born between about 1815 and 1824 but the records do not exist for that era. They grew up in difficult times in Ireland and indeed lived through difficult times with the Great Famine of 1847 - 1848.

Tim Burk and Mary Hays married in Leap on 23 February 1841. Witnesses: Peter Hays, Tim Burke.  (Note:  Spellings are variable in the Kilmacabea records !)

Mary Burke (nee Hayes) died on 25 November 1912 at Minanes, Drinagh.  From her death record she died of "senile decay", aged 84 years, a labourer's widow.  Present at her death and Informant of her death to the Registrar was her grandson, Eugene Maguire. He was the son of her eldest daughter, Mary.
