Eileen Cronin, (nee Spearman) Born 10th August 1930. Died 6th
May 2013. Wife to Mick and Mother to
Simon. Grandmother to Eanna, Tadhg and
Aine. Eileen was born in Nenagh, one of a family of 6, to Simon Spearman and
Ellen O Brien. From a young age, Eileen was musical. She learnt to play the
piano. She took great delight in playing
right up to the very end. There was music coming out of every pore in
her body. She was one of these bright, happy, vivacious people. She was a born
entertainer. From her early days in the
Nenagh Choral Society, where she starred in many shows, she immersed herself in
Operetta and The Musicals and built up an encyclopaedic knowledge. She moved to
Tullamore with Mick and Simon and shortly joined the Tullamore Musical Society
with whom she was Musical Director for more than 20 years. She was sorely
missed by all her friends in Tullamore when she moved to Athboy with Mick to be
near Simon. Eileen was a treasure who enriched the lives of all who knew her.
