Samuel Donovan was a son of Michael Donovan & Mary Sweeney of Ballydehob, West Cork, Ireland.

We see on the original paper record, available on https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:23DB-L73 that Samuel travelled to the US on the Catalonia ship from Queenstown (now Cobh) on 19 May 1893 and arrived in Boston Port on 29 May 1893.  Also on the record one could assume that his last address was an effort by an official at spelling Ballydehob.  His brother, John Donovan, paid the fare and John resided at 15 Way Street, Boston, MA.

We see Samuel's naturalization document which does bear his actual date of birth (not always found that accurate!)
