Denis McCarthy was a son of James McCarthy & Honora Daly
Denis McCarthy of Lahanact, Drimoleague married Honora Hurley of Lahanact in Drimoleague on 22nd February 1840 and the Witnesses were: Michl Hurley and John Sullivan.
Refer to the map and Derrynagree is to the East of Drimoleague village and immediately North of its adjoining Townland of Lahanaght.

Patrick McCarthy, born Derrigra and baptised 15th Feb 1857. Sponsors: Cornelius Regan, Mary Hurley.
From the Civil Marriage Cert. (Reg. No. 1649551) of Patrick it is noted that Denis is dead at that time.
Death:
Honora McCarthy died at Lahana on 7 April 1900. From her death record she was a widow, aged 83 years, a labourer's widow. Present at her death and the Informant to the Registrar was Pat McCarthy of Drimoleague.
