In "The Livingston Republican" issue dated Thursday, Sept 17, 1925 there is an article headed "100 years old is Michael Donovan". Just to take one paragraph from that article:-
"Mr. Donovan is alert both physically and mentally. His hearing is impaired slightly but his eyesight is good and he reads his newspaper daily. He has enjoyed excellent health all his life and attributes his present remarkable condition to the fact that he always lived a life of activity and exercise, never overdoing and never overtaxing his ability. Everything with him was in moderation. Even when he worked in a distillery with all the liquor he wanted free, he drank very moderately and never used tobacco excessively. His days have been long upon the land, and the story of his life shows that he has well earned everything that he now enjoys.”
Michael Donovan died on 19 May 1926 in Geneseo and he was buried there.
Chart indicating the various marriage connections of Donovan branches:-
It was stated that Michael was born in Brulea, Rosscarbery on 15 September 1825 to Patrick Donovan and Helena Driscoll. Looking at the plot below of his age quoted in various Census returns it would indicate that Michael was born in the early 1830's which years are found in the returns for 1870, 1875 and 1880 census. Indeed one could consider the baptism in Kilmacabea Parish, Co. Cork of a Michael Donovan who was born in Brulea, Glandore to Patrick Donovan and Ellen Minihane and baptised on 15 September 1832.
