Joseph Murphy, shoemaker and Hannah O'Donovan married on 25 January 1921 in the Catholic Church in Newcestown. The Witnesses were Denis Murphy and Mary Hurley.

They lived at Main Street, Ballydehob, Co. Cork
Hannah hired a car a few times in the late 1930's and with her niece visited relatives in Carhoogarriff near Carrigfadda. We know her grandfather Daniel Donovan died there and hence the family were evicted and the widow and children moved to Clonakilty. Clearly a relative subsequently lived in Carhoogarriff and Hanna visited there from her home in Ballydehob. As I said she hired a car to make the trip. Hannah also wrote some letters to these people in Carhoogarriff. Trying to establish who they were. (Frank).
On occasions Joe would travel to Cork on a bus which would be hired specially to transport a Ballydehob group to a football match. At that time the bus would pass within about 100 yards of our house in Bandon, and I have memories of Joe stopping the bus and he running that short distance to dash into our house to say "hello" and see we were all well. Then he would head back to the waiting bus and onwards to the match. Those were the days when you were allowed time to make such unscheduled trips! (Frank).
